BEFORE WE DIG IN

Before reviewing, I signed up with SkinnyRx, recorded the process, and gathered the key info you need to see if it’s a good fit. This review follows NNC’s Price & Trust Transparency Score methodology, which evaluates providers across true cost analysis and safety & legitimacy.

Disclosure: I’m a paid contributor to NutritionNC.com and was not compensated by SkinnyRx for this review.

Step 1: Sign up and complete your intake.

Head to the SkinnyRx site and start the intake quiz. It’s a medium-to-long process that mixes health history questions with weight loss advertisements throughout. The ads make the intake feel more like a sales funnel than a medical intake. Expect to spend 10 to 15 minutes getting through it.

Step 2: Select your plan and pay at checkout.

After the intake, you select your medication and plan length. Pricing is only shown at this stage—not before—and a countdown timer tells you to complete checkout within 15 minutes.

Step 3: Complete identity verification.

After checkout, SkinnyRx asks you to verify your identity through a third-party service called Sumsub. This requires uploading a government-issued ID and completing a face scan.

Step 4: Wait for provider review.

A licensed clinician reviews your file asynchronously. SkinnyRx advertises several different timelines across its site, ranging from “approved in minutes” to “within one business day” to “within 48 hours.” My approval took two full days, and the medication did not ship until three days after that.

Step 5: Medication ships overnight.

Once your prescription is approved, processed, and shipped, you’ll have it the next day. Tracking is available in your email and the patient portal.

Step 6: Receive your medication.

My package arrived with insulated cold-chain packaging, a gel ice pack, injection supplies, and a second bottle with complimentary anti-nausea medication included.

Step 7: Ongoing access and follow-up.

After starting treatment, you have unlimited asynchronous messaging with the care team and providers through the patient portal. Monthly check-ins are included at no extra cost.

True Cost Analysis

How clear and fair is SkinnyRx’s pricing?

SkinnyRx leads with its lowest possible price and works backward from there. The site advertises microdose plans as low as $149.25/mo and Meta ads promote prices from $224/mo, but both of those figures require committing to a multi-month bundle and paying up front, and the $149.25 rate applies only to the 12-month plan. The standard monthly rate for compounded semaglutide is $261.75, and branded medications come with a $1,400/month price tag.

The pricing structure itself isn’t hidden once you’re in, but SkinnyRx doesn’t let you see it until after you’ve completed the entire quiz and reached checkout.

KEY OBSERVATIONS

SkinnyRx advertises the lowest possible bundle price as its headline figure, without disclosing that it requires a 12-month up-front commitment for semaglutide or a four-month commitment for tirzepatide.

The checkout page shows full pricing details, but only after you’ve completed the intake. There’s no way to see pricing before investing time in the quiz.

Meta ads use “from $224/mo” without any disclosure that it represents a prepaid, four-month tirzepatide microdose bundle price, not the standard monthly rate.

Safety & Legitimacy

Is this provider trustworthy and properly licensed?

SkinnyRx holds probationary LegitScript certification and has a HIPAA-compliant privacy notice in place. Beyond that, the legitimacy fundamentals are weak. SkinnyRx does not disclose its pharmacy partners, does not name the medical providers who write prescriptions, and has no publicly verifiable business address. The one pharmacy I was able to trace from my own shipment was Promise Pharmacy, a 503A sterile compounding facility in Palm Harbor, Florida. It has a documented regulatory history that includes an FDA Warning Letter and a nonresident sterile compounding license that was still listed on disciplinary probation by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as recently as January 2026.

KEY OBSERVATIONS

SkinnyRx holds probationary LegitScript certification. Probationary status indicates previous instances of noncompliance with LegitScript standards, or a business model involving partnerships with a substantial number of unaffiliated businesses.

Promise Pharmacy, the 503A compounding facility that filled my order, has a documented FDA Warning Letter from July 2019 and was listed on disciplinary probation by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as of January 2026.

SkinnyRx does not list a verifiable US business address anywhere on its public site. BBB records place the business in Sacramento, CA, operating under the name LeanRX, Inc., but this is not disclosed on the site itself.

Credentials Breakdown

LegitScript Certification Verified (probationary)

LegitScript certification is the industry gold standard for online healthcare providers. SkinnyRx holds probationary certification, meaning it has met LegitScript’s basic criteria for legality and safety but has a prior history of noncompliance. Probationary status allows SkinnyRx to advertise on Google and major platforms, but it is a step below full certification.

HIPAA Compliant Perfect

SkinnyRx has a clearly posted HIPAA privacy notice. The patient portal also gives you the option to request deletion of your personal health information, though the platform notes that some data is retained due to policy requirements.

Clean Provider Records Major issues

SkinnyRx does not publicly disclose which pharmacies compound its medications or which medical providers write prescriptions. I was not given that information when I signed up, and it was not shared when I called to ask. The only pharmacy I was able to identify was Promise Pharmacy, the 503A facility that filled my own order. Promise Pharmacy has a documented regulatory history. An FDA Warning Letter was issued in July 2019, a Form 483 inspection was conducted in September 2021, an FMD-145 letter and a referral to the Florida Board of Pharmacy were issued in July 2022, and the FDA Warning Letter was formally closed out in July 2022. However, Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy minutes from January 2026 still list Promise Pharmacy’s nonresident sterile compounding license on disciplinary state probation. Without full pharmacy disclosure from SkinnyRx, there is no way to evaluate the rest of its pharmacy network.

US Address Major issues

SkinnyRx does not list a verifiable business address on its public site. BBB records identify the company as LeanRX, Inc., based in Sacramento, CA, incorporated in 2019, but this information is not disclosed anywhere on SkinnyRx’s own website.

Patient Support & Comprehensive Care

How easy is it to get help from real people?

Patient support at SkinnyRx is genuinely strong. Phone support is staffed by real, polite people who answer quickly, a welcome change from the voicemail boxes I encounter at most clinics. Email responses arrive within 24 hours and directly address the questions asked. The only gap is live chat, which is AI-only, with no human escalation available. Clinical access is excellent, and unlimited provider messaging and monthly check-ins are included at no extra cost.

KEY OBSERVATIONS

Live chat in the patient portal is AI only. There is no way to reach a human through chat. For clinical questions or billing issues, phone and email are the better options.

Phone support at (888) 979-9580 is available seven days a week and staffed by real people who answer promptly. I found this to be the most reliable support channel.

Email support at support@skinnyrx.com responded within 24 hours and answered questions directly. For a service where some clinics take days, this is notably good.

Support & Care Breakdown

Live Chat AI

The patient portal chat is AI only. It doesn’t offer a human escalation path, so if you have a nuanced question or a billing issue, this channel won’t help. Use phone or email instead.

Phone Support Human

Phone support at (888) 979-9580 is available Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, and Saturday–Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST. The team answers quickly and is polite—two things I genuinely can’t say about most GLP-1 clinics.

Email Human

Email support at support@skinnyrx.com is responsive and direct. My questions received clear, on-topic replies within 24 hours. That level of responsiveness is rare in this space.

Clinical Access & Oversight Good

Regular clinician access is included. SkinnyRx offers unlimited asynchronous messaging with providers through the patient portal, and monthly check-ins are part of the subscription. No video visit is required for most patients.

Medication Handling & Shipping Standards

How well shipped and packaged are the medications?

SkinnyRx earned a perfect score here, and it’s deserved. My medication arrived via overnight shipping in well-designed insulated packaging with a gel ice pack that kept the contents cold throughout transit. The vial was secure inside a pill bottle that fit snugly enough to prevent movement. A second bottle containing anti-nausea medication was also included. Everything arrived exactly as it should.

KEY OBSERVATIONS

The gel ice pack was no longer frozen on arrival, but the thick insulated packaging kept the contents cold. The vial inside the pill bottle had no room to shift around, which is exactly how it should arrive.

Injection supplies were included along with a SkinnyRx branded pamphlet covering storage and injection instructions. The bonus anti-nausea medication was a nice and practical addition.

Packing arrived with overnight shipping, and tracking was available in both the patient portal and email. My medication arrived on time with no delivery issues.

Shipping Standards Breakdown

Cold-Chain Shipping Standards Perfect

The gel ice pack was no longer frozen when I opened the package, but the thick insulated packaging maintained the correct temperature throughout. The contents arrived cold, which is what matters.

Packaging Quality & Security Perfect

The medication vial sat inside a pill bottle that fit snugly in the insulated packaging. Nothing shifted in transit. The pill bottle provided enough structure that the vial was well protected and arrived intact.

SkinnyRx branded pamphlet with injection and storage instructions.
Supplies & Instructions Perfect

Extra sharps were included, along with alcohol wipes and clear injection and storage instructions in a SkinnyRx branded pamphlet. A second pill bottle containing anti-nausea medication was also in the package, an addition I’ve only seen from a handful of clinics.

Tracking & Delivery Perfect

Overnight shipping with tracking in both the patient portal and email confirmation. My order arrived on time with no issues.

66

Transparent Operations

How honest is SkinnyRx in its policies and communications?

SkinnyRx earns high marks for image authenticity and medication clarity, but the rest of this section is uneven. Pricing is gated behind intake, the cancellation process involves an unnecessary phone call, and the site makes media validation claims backed by nothing. The intake process is particularly frustrating because a checkout countdown timer adds pressure to a medical prescription decision.

KEY OBSERVATIONS

The cancellation flow in the portal sends you through multiple confirmation screens before informing you that you still need to call support to complete the cancellation. The extra steps serve no clear purpose if a phone call is required anyway.

SkinnyRx displays logos for Forbes, Fortune 500, NBC, and Yahoo, none with links or verifiable citations. It also claims its medications are “recommended by Harvard, Mayo Clinic, WebMD & the National Institutes of Health,” which is nothing more than trying to pass medication trial results off as its own accomplishment.

A countdown timer at checkout tells you to complete your order within 15 minutes. No discount is tied to the timer; it’s pure pressure applied to what should be a serious medical decision.

Operations Breakdown

Cancellation and Post-Cancellation Billing Minor issues

Cancellation can be initiated in the patient portal under “My Plans,” but the multistep confirmation flow ultimately tells you to call support anyway. When I called, I was put on hold for about 10 minutes and was asked twice why I was leaving, even after I said both times that I preferred not to share my reasons. SkinnyRx did complete the cancellation without further pushback, and no additional charges followed.

Clear Pricing and Policies Minor issues

SkinnyRx advertises “microdose available as low as $149.25/mo” on its site, which is the 12-month bundle price for semaglutide, not the standard monthly rate. Full pricing details are only accessible after completing the entire intake quiz. Showing pricing up front would eliminate confusion about what the service actually costs.

Accuracy and Authenticity of Images Perfect

Patient images and outcome photos on SkinnyRx’s site appear authentic. No AI-generated imagery or stock photos were identified.

Advertised Pricing Accuracy Minor issues

Meta ads promote “from $224/mo,” which is the four-month tirzepatide microdose bundle price. The ad does not specify that this is a microdose or that it requires prepaying for multiple months. Most standard-plan patients will pay significantly more.

Media and Third-Party Validation Major issues

SkinnyRx displays logos for Forbes, Fortune 500, NBC, and Yahoo on its homepage without links or any verifiable citations connecting the brand to actual coverage in those outlets. The site also states that its medications “are recommended by Harvard, Mayo Clinic, WebMD & the National Institutes of Health.” These are serious credibility issues and the kind of unverifiable social proof that erodes trust.

Marketing Practices and Sales Pressure Minor issues

A scrolling banner promotes 25% off with a coupon code throughout the site. The intake quiz itself is regularly interrupted by weight loss ads and success promises. At checkout, a countdown timer instructs you to complete the process within 15 minutes. No discount is connected to the timer, which makes it purely a pressure mechanism applied to a medical transaction.

Clarity Around Medication Types and Limitations Perfect

SkinnyRx stands out here. It clearly explains the difference between injectable and sublingual semaglutide, including that injectable forms allow for better absorption and have a more established clinical track record. It also notes that the oral sublingual form is newer and that ongoing research will continue to clarify its long-term effectiveness. This level of detail is rare among GLP-1 clinics.

70

Patient Reviews & Real Experiences

What do recent customers think?

SkinnyRx has a strong Trustpilot presence at 4.8 stars, but the clinic holds a B rating from the BBB, with 145 complaints on file. Reddit discussions describe meaningful weight loss results, while others raise concerns about pricing, cancellation policies, and the legitimacy of compounded medications. Responses to public reviews appear mostly generic.

KEY OBSERVATIONS

A 4.8 on Trustpilot is strong. It suggests that most patients who complete treatment are satisfied, but it’s worth reading the actual review content alongside the star rating.

The BBB gives SkinnyRx a B rating. With 145 complaints on file—many related to billing disputes, cancellation difficulty, and medication effectiveness—the volume of issues is notable.

Reddit discussions on SkinnyRx reflect genuinely mixed experiences. Some users report significant weight loss, while others question the effectiveness of compounded medications and raise concerns about the cancellation process and pricing transparency.

Who Should Use SkinnyRx?

  • If overnight delivery and excellent cold-chain packaging are your top priorities, then SkinnyRx delivers. The medication handling scored a perfect 100, thanks to well-insulated packaging, secure vials, overnight tracking, and anti-nausea medication thrown in at no extra charge.
  • If you want to reach a real person by phone without going to voicemail, then SkinnyRx is one of the better options available. Phone support is staffed by real people who answer quickly, available seven days a week.
  • If you prefer injectable compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide with flexible bundle pricing, you’ll appreciate that SkinnyRx gives you several options. Pricing scales down meaningfully with longer plan commitments, reaching $149.25/mo for semaglutide on a 12-month plan.
  • If understanding the clinical differences between delivery formats is important to you, then SkinnyRx explains the injectable vs. sublingual distinction better than almost any clinic I’ve reviewed. Most providers skip this detail entirely.

Who is SkinnyRx Not For?

  • If knowing which pharmacy fills your prescription is nonnegotiable, SkinnyRx will disappoint you. The clinic does not disclose its pharmacy network, and the one partner traceable from my order has a documented regulatory history that includes an FDA Warning Letter and an ongoing disciplinary probation as recently as January 2026.
  • If you need a verifiable US business address, then SkinnyRx cannot provide one. No business address appears on its public site, which is a basic trust signal most legitimate healthcare providers include.
  • If you want to avoid high-pressure sales tactics during a medical intake, then SkinnyRx is not the right fit. The intake is half advertisements, and a checkout countdown timer with no attached discount applies pressure to a prescription decision that deserves careful consideration.
  • If you want to pay month-to-month without a long up-front commitment, then the advertised pricing will feel misleading. The headline figures require multi-month prepayment, and the standard monthly rate is significantly higher than what SkinnyRx leads with.
  • If coaching, nutrition guidance, or lifestyle support alongside your medication is important to you, then look elsewhere. MEDVi includes lifestyle coaching at a flat rate, and Mochi Health offers a wider selection of both branded and compounded medications with strong support resources.

Final Verdict

OVERALL SCORE

63

SkinnyRx scores 66/100. Medication handling and patient support are the two areas where it genuinely earns its reputation, with perfect scores in both, backed by firsthand experience.

The concerns that bring the score down aren’t minor, though. Pharmacy partners are never disclosed, and the one pharmacy traceable from my shipment has unresolved regulatory issues. Pressure tactics during the intake and at checkout are inappropriate for a prescription medical service, and there’s not even a verifiable US address associated with the company.

If overnight delivery, solid packaging, and accessible human support are your deciding factors, SkinnyRx delivers on all three. If you want to know who is prescribing and filling your medication before you commit, the answers aren’t here.

Get evaluated now and see if you qualify.
