eWIC Implementation

The North Carolina WIC Program is moving from a paper-based method of WIC benefit issuance to an electronic benefit transfer system (eWIC). We will be piloting eWIC from October 4, 2017 to December 31, 2017. The pilot region includes the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, and Pender. After the pilot period, there are ten rollout weeks scheduled from January 22, 2018 through May 11, 2018. During this time eWIC will be rolled out to the remainder of the counties in the state. Please see the memo below for more details regarding the transition to eWIC.

WIC Vendor Permanent Rules

North Carolina WIC Retailer Advisory Council

The North Carolina WIC Program in collaboration with the North Carolina Retail Merchants Association has established the North Carolina WIC Retailer Advisory Council to discuss topics relevant to North Carolina WIC retailers (vendors). The North Carolina WIC Retailer Advisory Council meets via conference call on a monthly basis. The following meeting dates and times have been scheduled for 2017:

  • May 9, 2017 at 10:00am
  • June 13, 2017 at 10:00am
  • July 11, 2017 at 10:00am
  • August 8, 2017 at 10:00am
  • September 12, 2017 at 10:00am
  • October 10, 2017 at 10:00am
  • November 14, 2017 at 10:00am
  • December 12, 2017 at 10:00am

The conference call number is 919-715-0769. Meetings are not mandatory, but vendors are encouraged to attend to find out information which may impact WIC vendor authorization.
