World Breastfeeding Week 2009: August 1-7
Welcome to the World Breastfeeding Week 2009 resource page. This year the theme for World Breastfeeding Week is “Breastfeeding: A Vital Emergency Response. Are you Ready?” There are a variety of resources to help communities promote, protect and support breastfeeding in emergencies.

Training Opportunity
- Breastfeeding: A Vital Emergency Response: This free webcast will be held on August 6, 2009 from 8:30 - 10:30 AM. It is sponsored by the New York State Department of Health and the University at Albany Center for Public Health Preparedness. It is intended to draw attention to the vital role that breastfeeding plays in emergencies. The broadcast will stress the need for active protection and support of breastfeeding before and during emergencies. It will also give suggestions for mobilizing action and nurturing networking and collaboration between those with breastfeeding skills and those involved in emergency response.
