Peer Counselor Contact Calculator
A Peer Counselor must communicate routinely with women enrolled in the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (BFPC) Program. The Peer Counselor Contact Calculator was created as a quick reference to know when the required and recommended contacts are due for prenatal and postpartum WIC participants.
For more information, see the contact frequency requirements in Chapter 9: Breastfeeding Program Management, Section 6: Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program from the WIC Program Manual.
How to Use the Calculator
- To calculate the required and recommended prenatal and postpartum contacts, the two fields highlighted yellow "Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program Letter of Agreement" and "Expected Due Date or Actual Date of Delivery" dates must be entered.
- If a WIC participant enrolls in the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program postpartum, the field "Date BFPC Letter of Agreement Signed" becomes an optional field to receive the results.
- Click "Calculate" to populate the dates under the "Results: Required and Recommended Contact Dates" below.
Notes:
» Missed contact dates due to an unknown early delivery should be documented in Crossroads.
» Two (2) documented attempts are required to count as a contact if the participant cannot be reached.
This tool is not a tracker and does not have the capability to retain any personal information.
