A 504 Accommodation Plan may be developed for a child who is not enrolled in special education but who requires health related services during the school day. The 504 Accommodation Plan is in response to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. It should be used in the school to support the needs of a child who does not have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This might include a child with diabetes, cystic fibrosis or metabolic disorder. Nutrition goals and objectives may be incorporated into the 504 Accommodation Plan to facilitate special meal modifications by the Child Nutrition Program.
