We’ve all seen the commercials for Ozempic®, Mounjaro®, and other GLP-1 weight-loss meds, but what those commercials leave out is how exactly you’re meant to get them.
Over 150,000 patients in your shoes have turned to Shed (formerly ShedRX), so it’s obviously doing something right.
Shed promises fast access to prescription and compounded GLP-1s, plus a weight-loss guarantee and ongoing support from licensed providers.
Sounds great, but does Shed truly deliver?
📋Our score: 4.5/5
If it were not for one or two dodgy months, Shed could have easily scored a 5/5. However, like just about every telehealth company, it ran into GLP-1 supply issues in late April and customer support was overwhelmed.
We still think it’s an amazing clinic.

👉 Start with ShedRxWhat Is Shed?

Shed is a fully online telehealth company offering GLP-1 medications, both name brand and compounded, along with coaching, supplements, and prescription delivery.
You can opt to pay for prescriptions only or you can add additional one-on-one coaching and full lifestyle and nutritional guidance. Some telehealth companies don’t give you this option, instead requiring you sign up and pay for a monthly membership before even meeting with a provider.
Unlike those guys, Shed puts you in control.
Since it offers more GLP-1 options than almost anyone, you can choose from name-brand injections like Wegovy® and Zepbound®, but if you have specialized needs, you can still find compounded options, like semaglutide drops or troches, and many options in between.
All of Shed’s GLP-1 medications come with a guarantee that you’ll lose 10% of your body weight.
Shed is also a big fan of our NNC GLP-1 guides (informed patients make better consumers), so it’s currently offering a $100 discount to our readers.
How Does Shed Work?

Shed has one of the simplest sign-ups in the game, and one of the quickest too. It’s done everything possible to streamline the process, from initial evaluation to prescription delivery.
Step 1: Online Questionnaire
The Shed questionnaire is pretty standard, starting with your motivation for joining Shed. Then you provide your personal information and sign up with an email address.
That’s followed by a BMI calculation and 11 health questions (by our count) that cover things like whether there’s any thyroid cancer in your family, kidney issues, or allergies, and a few more.
The last question is about your history with GLP-1 medications, which is important because the guarantee only applies to you if you haven’t tried GLP-1s in the past. You’ll then provide your shipping information and that’s about it.
If you don’t have a complicated health history, you can be done in around five minutes flat.
Step 2: Select Your Medicine
This might seem like putting the carriage before the horse, but with Shed, you get to choose your GLP-1 before you’ve seen a doctor. This doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get the prescription you want, but the clinician will note your preference.
Once you’ve chosen your medication, you’ll choose your dosage, which will also be determined by your medical practitioner.
Step 3: Decide If You Want Coaching
At this stage, you can either choose to do things more or less on your own, with just your prescription, or join the premium coaching program.
The premium coaching program provides far more personalization and supplements your prescription with one-on-one coaching and a long-term weight-loss plan that encompasses sleep, exercise, nutrition, and emotional health.
Step 4: Payment
This also may seem a little counterintuitive since you still haven’t seen a medical provider, but at this point you make your first payment for your prescription (and coaching, if you chose it).
Not to worry, if you prove ineligible for the prescription, you’ll be refunded in full.
Step 5: Prescription Confirmation
A clinician will review your health history and information and confirm that you’re eligible for a GLP-1 prescription. In some cases, this is all it will take, and you’ll get the clinician’s recommendations through your email or Shed patient portal.
However, many states require a video conference with your physician before they can issue a prescription. This could take less than 10 minutes to complete if you’ve done your research, but you also have the opportunity to ask any questions if you’re not certain what GLP-1 is best for you.
Rarer cases will require blood work, as well, but this is only common for patients with chronic health conditions, such as kidney or liver disease.
Step 6: Prescriptions Shipped to Your Door
Shed has your prescriptions shipped to your home address straight from participating pharmacies, so you don’t even have to leave your home. Typically this takes less than a week for brand-name drugs and more or less around the same time for compounded meds.
Step 7: Ongoing Care
This depends largely on whether or not you choose personal coaching. If you did not, Shed’s support is there to answer any questions but won’t provide a lot of guidance.
If you did choose coaching, you’ll have ongoing access to medical professionals, nutritionists, weight-loss experts, and more.
Shed Pricing: Prescriptions + Optional Coaching
Shed offers standard to lower-than average prescription prices with the flexibility to choose whether or not to add coaching. And if you purchase a Shed plan through us, you get $100 off your first month.
📝 Editor’s note
Prices are accurate at the time of publication. We update frequently, but pricing can change quickly.
| Drug | Administration | Monthly price | VIP coaching |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zepbound | Injection | $99 + $499 | + $49.99/month (optional) |
| Wegovy | Injection | $99 + $349–$499 | |
| Compounded semaglutide | Injection | $199 (0.2 mg–1 mg) $299 (0.9 mg–2.2 mg) | |
| Compounded semaglutide | Lozenge | $349 (2000 mcg) $499 (3000 mcg) | |
| Compounded semaglutide | Oral drops | $229 (.9 mg) $329 (2.2) | |
| Compounded tirzepatide | Injection | $299–$399 (2–14 mg) |
Shed does not charge for telehealth consultations or support, whether you select premium coaching or not.
If you do select the premium coaching, you’ll get a lot more one-on-one time and a much more structured, personalized program to keep the weight off once you’re done with your GLP-1.
How It Compares
Shed is definitely on the cheaper end of the spectrum, for both coaching and prescription prices:
- Found also offers a subscription model, only its program starts at $129/month. Over the course of a year, you’ll pay more than $700 more with Found. Prescription prices with Found are the same as with Shed, but Found no longer offers cheaper compounded meds. Shed’s coaching services are also significantly better.
- Sesame Care also excels at coaching and long-term weight loss, but it charges $99 a month for these services, which is 40% more than Shed. Sesame Care offers the same prescription prices for name brands as Shed but accepts insurance, which could significantly lower your costs. Like Found, Sesame also no longer offers compounded GLP-1s.
- Weight Watchers is in the ballpark price-wise, charging just $4 more per month than Shed and offering a first-month teaser rate of just $49 a month. However, it really struggles with customer support, and coaching is hit or miss.
Shed Weight-Loss Guarantee
Shed has one of the best weight-loss guarantees in the business. It guarantees you’ll lose 10% of your body weight within nine months.
There are, of course, some strings attached, so we went to the fine print. It only applies to first-time GLP-1 users who attend all required medical follow-ups, complete all assigned learning modules in the Shed Member portal, log their weight weekly, and participate in the Facebook community by posting at least once a week.
These terms are subject to change, so double-check that you meet the criteria before signing up.
Treatment Options at Shed
Shed has the widest variety of GLP-1 options, including a number of compounded options that most clinics no longer have available.
Here’s the choice tree.

Name Brands
Shed offers the two biggest brands in weight-loss medication at the moment: Zepbound which contains tirzepatide, and Wegovy, which contains semaglutide.
A name-brand prescription with Shed requires membership in Shed+, which costs $99/month and includes text-based coaching, access to the supportive Shed weight-loss community, and educational resources. All three are administered once a week by injection with a prefilled pen.
Of course, they come at name-brand prices, but they are generally considered more safe than compounded medicines due to strict FDA oversight.
Compounded Medications
From 2022 to just recently, the FDA allowed compounding pharmacies to make their own versions of semaglutide and tirzepatide due to an official shortage of GLP-1s.[1]
The FDA has since declared this shortage over; however, Shed and other pharmacies can continue to prescribe compounded medications, with modifications, for patients in need of a non-brand-name version.[2]
For example, a patient who is allergic to something in a name brand is eligible for a compounded med.[3] What pharmacies are not allowed to do is produce exact copies of name-brand GLP-1s. If you’re offered an exact copy of a name-brand GLP-1 from any clinic, online or otherwise, it’s a shady place and you should look elsewhere.
For those who qualify, Shed offers compounded tirzepatide in the form of injections or oral drops, and compounded semaglutide via either injection, lozenge, or oral drops.
So, if you want a GLP-1 but shudder at the idea of self-injection, Shed offers you oral alternatives that are far easier to ingest.
All compounded medications prescribed by Shed are licensed and follow USP <795> and <797> compounding standards.[4] That’s not the same as FDA approval, but it speaks to Shed’s commitment to safety and quality.
Additional Support Options
Although GLP-1s are meant to be taken over the long term, and many don’t see optimal results until six months to a year of treatment, it is not meant to be taken forever.[5] That’s where Shed’s premium coaching program comes in.
As you observe the potentially dramatic weight loss that comes with taking GLP-1s, Shed coaches and nutritionists are also helping you change your habits. Their focus on your overall health, including sleep habits, eating habits, nutrition and more, make it far easier to keep the weight off once you’ve finished your GLP-1 treatment.
🎯 Who Should Use Shed?

If you don’t like the idea of giving yourself injections, Shed is the place for you.
It’s one of the few online weight-loss clinics that still gives you other options, such as compounded tirzepatide in oral drops and compounded semaglutide in the form of lozenges.
Thanks to its flexible pricing, Shed also works equally well for independent patients.
Those who are familiar with GLP-1s and don’t need a lot of hand-holding will appreciate Shed’s hands-off option. That doesn’t mean that those who want one-on-one coaching are hung out to dry though. You can choose to just get your prescription, but for an industry-low $49.99/month, you can also get all the extra, ongoing support you need.
Shed is also good for those who don’t plan on using insurance.
Since it offers affordable (by GLP-1 standards) meds, such as compounded semaglutide injections starting at just $199/month, GLP-1 meds are still within reach, even for the under-insured.
There’s also a weight-loss guarantee, so for those who are anxious they’ll spend a lot of money on GLP-1s but not see any benefits, Shed takes out the risk.
🚫 Who Is Shed Not For?
If you have an insurance policy that will cover the cost of GLP-1s, you should look at other clinics because Shed does not accept insurance at this time, though it’s planning to add insurance measures soon.
If you’re terribly impatient, you may also want to look elsewhere. Shed has had some supply issues as of late and has stated that name-brand GLP-1s may not come until two weeks after you’ve been issued a prescription.
Of course, this plagued the entire industry as the demand for GLP-1s reached all-time highs, so you may not find anyone else as prompt as Shed, even if you pay significantly more.

Real User Experience With Shed
There are a lot of success stories out there from those who have successfully used Shed. Those that love it cite their dramatic weight loss and the health coaching.
Those with complaints generally took issue with the shipping delays that took place when demand for GLP-1s dramatically surged several months ago.
Final Verdict
Shed offers the best of both worlds. It’ll quickly issue your GLP-1 prescription and leave you to it, if that’s what you want, or you can choose the affordable premium coaching package and get attentive, knowledgeable coaching.
Either way, you’ll pay a great price if you’re paying out of pocket, and you’ll be building the foundation for long-term weight-loss success.

What exactly is Shed’s “Lose 10% or refund” guarantee?
According to Shed’s “Lose 10% or refund” guarantee, you’re eligible for a refund of your membership fees if you don’t hit 10% weight loss with your plan within nine months. There are some important details however, so you have to read the fine print like we did. For example, you must be a contributing member to the Shed Facebook group and post once a week to be eligible for the refund.
Does Shed have fast and reliable shipping?
Yes, Shed has fast and reliable shipping. However, Shed relies on third parties to fill prescriptions, so it was caught up in the same delays that plagued almost every weight-loss clinic recently when demand for GLP-1s skyrocketed. Shed is mostly back on track at this point, although name brands like Wegovy may still take up to two weeks to ship at the moment.
How do I cancel my ShedRX subscription?
The best way to cancel your Shed membership is to reach out directly through chat in your Shed patient portal or to email customer support, but you can only do so after you’ve been on the program for two months. After that, you’re allowed to cancel up to 72 hours before your next subscription period begins. One of the few complaints about Shed is that it is difficult to cancel your membership. Reports indicate it can take several months to process, so cancel as early as possible.
Is the medical oversight strong at ShedRX?
Yes, strong medical oversight is available at Shed. Additionally, for an additional $49.99 per month, you can sign up for the premium coaching program, which provides ongoing coaching and covers exercise, nutrition, and even sleep quality. Outside the premium coaching program, Shed has significantly streamlined the onboarding process for GLP-1 treatments to make it easier for busy patients to access GLP-1 meds. That means that in many cases, unless required by state law, you won’t even have a telehealth visit before you get your prescription. If, however, you do want more oversight, the Shed coaching program offers more.
Is ShedRX’s program FDA‑approved?
Yes, Shed’s program provides access to FDA-approved treatments. Shed offers FDA-approved name-brand GLP-1s, such as Wegovy and Zepbound, as well as compounded GLP-1s, like compounded tirzepatide. Compounded meds are not individually FDA-approved, although Shed only uses compounded pharmacies that are licensed and follow USP <795> and <797> compounding standards, and they are only available to customers with specific circumstances that mean they cannot take name-brand GLP-1s. If you’re also considering compounded tirzepatide, comparing options through a reputable compounding pharmacy can help you find the best fit.
