MEMORANDUM: | CACFP 01-01 |
TO: | CACFP Sponsors/Sponsors of Summer Food Service Programs |
FROM: | Arnette Cowan, MS, RD, LDN Jaunnice Williams, MS |
SUBJECT: | National Nutrition Month® - March 2001 |
This year's National Nutrition Month® (NNM) theme, "Food & Fitness: Build a Healthy Lifestyle" promotes the new Dietary Guidelines. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2000, intended for healthy children ages 2 and older and adults of any age, offer great ideas and sensible guidelines for positive choices. The NNM 2001 campaign reinforces that there are many foods and many ways to build a healthy diet and lifestyle beginning with the "Aim, Build, Choose" foundation of the Dietary Guidelines. The enclosed materials have been compiled to help with planning your agency's celebration of NNM 2001.
We hope you find these materials useful for promoting the messages of this year's NNM campaign to your clients, co-workers and community. The Dietary Guidelines booklet and pamphlet are available to view and download from the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion's website: www.usda.gov/cnpp/. Access this same website for information about and to download the Food Guide Pyramid for Young Children. If you have any questions about these materials, please contact your Regional Nutrition Consultant or Special Nutrition Programs Consultant. enclosures cc: Special Nutrition Programs Staff |
