How to save PDFs to your computer:
Adobe Reader will work more efficiently, for example searches will complete faster, if you first download PDFs directly to your computer.
In Internet Explorer:
- Right-click on the link to the PDF file.
- Select "Save Target As" from the menu.
- "Save As" dialog box will open. Navigate to the directory where you would like to store the file, use the assigned filename or give the file a custom name, and click "Save".
- "Save As" dialog should automatically close. File will begin downloading to the directory you specified. You can monitor download status via the "File Download" dialog box.
- When the status of the "File Download" dialog changes to "Download Complete", click "Open" if you want to view the PDF file immediately.
Accessing the PDF directly from your hard drive will save you time when printing or conducting a search.
How to use the table of contents feature in Adobe Reader:
Once the Adobe Reader has been installed on your computer, click NET Lending Library 2006 Resource Catalog to display the PDF catalog. The catalog displays the cover of the catalog on the right pane of your Adobe Reader with a table of contents or TOC on the left pane. You'll notice that the table of contents is organized by alphabet; click the appropriate letter to display lending resources that begin with that letter. Say, for example that you want to search all resources that might pertain to "obesity", simply click Available Materials O to display the resources that begin with the letter O.
